Make sure you walk down to the end of this beach past the barrel and through the rocks! You will be rewarded with calm waves and amazing snorkling on the rocks.

Lopes Mendes Beach from our point of view is not a dream beach as everybody used to tell us. It is a wild natural beach (which is nice but makes it of course not as perfect looking) and it is really dirty - there was garbage lying around throughout the whole beach :( All in all not a big recommendation... I probably should tell people about Ilha Grande because it is so perfect. It is a day walk from town through the rainforrest, but the beach has no undertow. It is protected, so it is perfect to swim safely and mostly isolated.

this beach takes a bit of travel time to get to. you have to take a boat and then a 20 minute hike up and over the mountain, but it is beautiful and super long! we loved this beach and visited it twice in our 5 days on ilia grande.

It's quite a walk from the ferry to Lopes Mendes beach. Worthwile though. We went there after rainy days so the bushwalk was slippery and muddy. Bear in mind it can be a steep track. I would not recommend when you have a problem walking or climbing. Beach is very pretty with nice waves and white sand. On the way... More

A wonderful beach! Wild big not to crowded! You can reach it by taxi boat or by walking. It will take you about 2,5 hours to walk along beaches and through the rain forest. It's a little hilly but even beginners can handle it. Make sure to bring enough water and food. There are some restaurants on the way which... More

You have to hike in around 1h30min from Abraão to reach this beach. It's one of the beaches which faces the open sea, therefore you'll find waves there are quite big, and the beach is very long, with a medium part of sand for you to be on, and generally it's quite desert, since it's not so easy to get... Second time here. Five years ago we came. I remembered how amazing this beach was. It was still amazing. Best beach on the island in my opinion. Great waves for surfing or boogie boarding or just swimming. Must be careful because the waves can be strong.
