A beautiful town best enjoyed early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the crowd are less and the sun is not as high in the sky.
do your research and you can visit all the historic sites for free , there is plenty of information on line, its perfectly safe and there is no need for a guide.
Find out when the high tides are and you can take some great photos of the flooded streets

What a beautiful place. Above expectations. No tacky plastic Coca Cola chairs to be seen, as often found in most Spanish tourist places. Everything is well preserved and well thought through.
I recommend NOT to take a tourist boat out to the beaches- they are loud and crowded. Rent a private boat instead, just ask in the harbour they late afternoon before. It’s worth it.
Lots of nice eating places. This is just a paradise. It’s a tourist place so it can be busy but we found ways to avoid the crowds but taking a private boat and we stayed in a quite and secluded boutique hotel.

Very nice old city, it is nice to walk around in the center. Only downside is he streets are really difficult to walk due to the stones.

Centro historico of Paraty is absolutely beautiful. Many small streets with shops, restaurants and bars, as well as churches.
I'm definitely going back whenever I'll have the chance

The historic center of Paraty retains the colonial charm of its architecture full of colors and beautiful places to walk, eat or visit the galleries and craft shops.

Such a great place with cobbled streets and great houses dotted along the many streets that make Paraty's old town. Get lost and discover the many lovely shops and restaurants, have an ice cream, grab a beer and watch the evening overlooking the bay. Great place, worth visiting.

Very ennoying to walk within the centro historico; it seems they dig-in the sewage system, but did not redo the street properly. Probably too dangerous for older people !

Try to learn about the historical district before you go- or do a walking tour, the buildings are seeped with an interesting history and is a rare surviving part of Brazil's past. Make sure you wear decent shoes though- the roads in the historic district are the original ones and the mortar between the stones have washed away throughout the years.

Lovely and charming colonial town, nice vibes, not the cheapest place in Brazil but worth the visit.
