I attended WONCA conference. The place is huge, very hot & humid outside the conference rooms, & very cold inside the rooms. The floor is not regular, it is made of large stones in one place & small stones in the other part. So be sure to wear durable not fancy shoes. I needed to use the lift to go... More

I've participated the Wonca congress recently that took place in Riocentro. Here I will just mention about the Riocentro facilities. It is one old, ugly, overheated and giant place in the middle of nowhere in Rio - Barra. So, we didn't actually have any option to get out of this monster disastrous construction, felt like prisoners. Food court was full... More

As the largest convention center in South America, Rio Centro was known for hosting international exhibitions and trade shows before becoming a venue for the Olympic Games. In fact this was the site of the United Nations 1992 Conference on Enivironment and Development known as the Earth Summit. Located near Barra Olympic Park, the Badminton, Boxing, Table Tennis and Weightlifting were... More

Walked from the Parque Olimpico. Easy walk however there were no signs on how to get between venues. Walked west to the hotel, then through car park towards the lake, crossed the road and continued south west on the footpath next to the highway. Crossed at the first traffic lights and there. Took about 20 minutes. Venue was good. Signage... More

This is apparently one of the largest convention centers in South America, but it is in a rather inconvenient location. Attending some olympic sporting events during my stay in Rio de Janeiro, Riocentro exhibition center was not easy to reach even with the "infrastructure upgrades" that Rio de Janeiro has spent money on (namely, Line 4 now connects Copacabana/Ipanema to... Visited there during Arnold`s event. Simply huge, with a great parking lot and air conditioning system (needed specially on summer).

After visiting several convention centers in the world, this is by far my worst experience. From the uncomfortable entrance with the drunks, taxi drivers and scalpers, to the huge parking lot you have to walk through to get in. We had to meet with suppliers but the heat was such, that we were all seeating through our clothes, making it... More

The worst feature, is that the parking ios very far and at the oposite side from the entrance. Also far from everywhere and in a region still a bit empty

A desert convention center in a desolate place. Unless there is a convention actually taking place here, do not even bother.

The place is in Barra, long drive from most the city. The place is quite large, like any serious convention center should be, and host many different conferences. No good hotels close to the location, and one can only reach by car or bus. More than enough parking space for large events.
