Got a few souvenirs, some good looking knock-off sneakers, and carnival costumes here for very cheap. That being said, I found better quality souvenirs at the Sunday Hippie Fair in Praça Osório in Ipanema Visited on Wednesday afternoon of carnival week and the place was packed with people.

Best place if you're a tourist in Rio to buy mementos and Souvenirs at a decent price. Emergency clothes purchases as well. Shop around for best prices and quality.

our airbnb host took us there to get a phone fixed, we went around to find out that it has a lot of thing for fair prices, specially souvenirs which were way cheaper than other places, food was also really good and cheap, it's perfect for the travelers that like to go beyond and experience the culture from inside. Don't... More

Saara Market Centro We had to ask a cab driver to help us find this covered but open air market. It was a weekday and so there were not a large crowd of people, but found lots of well crafted carved wooden souvenirs, assorted candies, condiments and other food items, as well as musicians singing and playing from a small... Do you need batteries? a new pen drive, fix your cell phone? Then Saara may be the place for you. Here are street after street of small specialty shops, along with branches of the more prominent larger institutions, banks and brand name establishments. But beware, there are also many vendors on the sidewalk that are blatantly dishonest or will will... More

If you are planning to go to the beach but forgot to bring your Brazillian Bikini, this is a place for it. The 2 pieces (mix and match) cost around R50, while the popular beach towel can be around R25!! super cheap compare to those selling in store near the beach.

Nice market area, soo many shops selling a lot of things you never knew you wanted! Be aware and do take an extra look before you buy anything. That tshirt may be half price in the next store.

This is a great area for market shopping! We had checked out other markets and were very disappointed. Here you can get almost anything. At great prices we brought some cool gifts to take home to family and friends, including bags, t-shirts, hats, board shorts, souvenirs and phone charger/adaptor for ourselves. The only downside of shopping in an area such... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
