Arrived by train which was on time. Platform was clean and easy walking to the stadium. Toilets were inside the entry area so be prepared for a wait. When inside the stadium grounds are spacious and tidy. Seating was ok however I found the seat backs a bit too flexible. Ample space between people. Good rake which meant that you... More

This stadium held the Athletics during Rio 2016 Summer Games. It is very nice inside and Bolt won his last three golden medals here. It usually have soccer games (not the most important), but it can be a good alternative in case there is no games in Maracanã. It is vey interesting. The bad side of this is that the... More

We enjoyed watching the track and field here during the Olympics. From what we were told Botofogo plays here at other times. Decent stadium but lacks all the modern creature comforts one finds at new stadiums like pubs, restaurants, plenty of restrooms etc.

THis stadium is shut down for structural work. And has been for about two years. Incredibly, the stadium built in 2007 has already presented serious structural compromise. And it is supposed to be the opening venue for the Olympics one year from now.

Commonly known by the cariocas as "Engenhão", and with the official name of "Estádio Nilton Santos" (João Havelange was the former name of it), this is the 2nd largest football stadium in Rio (Maracanã is the largest) and home to Botafogo (the 4th largest football team in the city). It is a new stadium, very comfortable and worth to visit... More

You haven't really been to Brazil until you've seen a football game! I was taken here to see a Botafogo match with some friends and had an amazing time. Attendance was low for this particular game, but the supporters were always loud and the crowd was always in it. The stadium itself is still undergoing work so some sections were... More

This stadium was recently closed due to discovery of a crack in a major steel support and 50% greater movement than had been forecast by engineers. Games which were scheduled for this stadium are now taking place as far away as Volta Redonda. Re-opening is up in the air, no forecast date has yet been released. With Rio's two major... More

Not a bad place to go and watch a game of football. We went to see a game between Fluminense (the home team) and Vasco de Gama. Sadly the stadium was only half full with around 15000 of the seats taken up, but still a great atmosphere and good facilites inside the ground. I would reccommend watching a game here.

It is a soccer stadium, that's it. It was built for the Panamerican games in 2007. The location is not the best, but since Maracana is being repaired it is the option in case you want to watch a soccer game in Rio, until Maracana reopens in 2013.
