Beautiful , clean golden sandy beach. Be careful if you go in the sea, as the Rio currents are very strong. Lots of beach bars. 8km of safe cycle paths adjacent to the beach. Much quieter and less touristy than Copacabana. Quite a few sellers...More

This is a great beach with beautiful sand. We enjoyed both getting some vitamin D, bathing as well as taking a good run next to beach.

Yes, Copacabana and Ipanema are better known, but only because they are right there in the middle of the city. There are advantages and disadvantages to that. Advantage: well, they are in the city, no reason to commute. Disadvantage: where to start? crowded, polluted, expensive,...More

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt. It is right across the street from the beach. The beach never seemed crowded and the kiosks did not pressure us to stop and drink/eat. We felt very safe at all times of the day. Great experience.

I stayed near here. Far better than Copacabana. Well looked after and plenty of bars for drinks along the front. We cycled it one day and it was lovely. I walked along the beach every day I enjoyed it that much

Less crowds, cheaper, whiter sand... What's not to love? I guess the long metro ride from Copacabana isn't very nice, but at least it's easy to get there. There are kiteaurfing schools here. No beach volleyball... At least not as much as on the main...More

Stayed for 4 days nearby and went to the beach everyday. Its one of the nicest in Rio, not that far from the more famous Copacabana/Ipanema beaches. During the week its really quiet and not many people go there, during weekends it gets more people...More

There are several beach bars and restaurants, all of typical brasilian style, a bit more "upper class"at the beach. We felt that food is too expensive. What we saw on dishes looked nice, but we are not willing to pay 50-60... More

It's a beautiful large sandy beach where many people relaxed and swam. It was clean and inviting. We were there in February at the end of carnival.
