Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

Great beach. More to surfers but even not surfing I like going there. Beautiful place, good atmosphere. The water is usually cold but there is a place across the street with showers. Parking is a problem so you must get up early and go.

Rent a car and spend the day at this somewhat secluded beach. Surfer's paradise and romantic setting.

Amazing location, worth the drive to get away from the hustle and bustle of Ipanema and copacabana. Fresh fish and cheap capiriniha.

Prainha beach is a long drive from Copacabana, but worth it. It was almost empty when er were there, besides some surfers. This is the place to be to catch great waves in Rio!

While visiting Rio de Janeiro, visit this spot that is different to the famous beach like Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon. Not so far from Barra, enjoy a wild and more natural beach.

Amazing place for surfing and enjoy nature. You have to pick a car or just ride a bike to reach this place. Anyway it is worth it.

Usually a lot of surfers but except from them it´s very calm and relaxed atmosphere and you can hardly believe it´s so close to the city.

The place is a bit secluded, suggest you look for hotels in Barra region as most of those will be able to arrange transportation to and from Prainha.
