I have visited chruches and monasteries across the world, and Sao Bento has to rank as one of the most incredibly beautiful I have ever seen! Glorious monastery!

The monastery isn't open for visitors but you can see the fantastically ornate church. The inside is amazing and a total surprise after the very plain exterior. The decorations are mainly of wood and gold leaf and well worth a look

In downtown heart the monastery is almost a cidadele, the church in a barroc style creates a special scenario for the mass by the monks. You shall watch on Sundays at 10AM.

This beautiful monastery is located on a hill in the city center of the town. His privileged location ensure an amazing view of ganabara’s bay. Definitely a masterpiece of the Brazil old times, very well preserved.
