Awesome Monday night fun! We didn’t really plan on doing anything Monday night- but our tour guide earlier in the day suggested we visit Pedra do Sal. Boy did we have fun! Great tunes/ dancing to the drums!

We had a blast going to Pedra do Sal. There many street stands selling food and drinks. There is live music, people dancing in the street. I really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Not only a former slave trade site, but also the birthplace of samba. Full of historical buildings around and cultural events from time to time.

Carman Miranda, the samba singer with fruit filled hats started here in the 1920s. This ally is ground zero of samba. You can feel it in the walls. On Monday nights the bands, the food, the dancers come for an all out party.

We went by taxi because safety reasons. I don't remember how much the taxi was (probably not so expensive as to remember). At Pedra do Sal itself there are a lot of policemen and it feels safe but if you go by bus/metro... More
