This beach is a great alternative for families with young children as there are very few waves and the water is generally quite calm (which isn't the case with Copacabana and Ipanema). However, the sand was pretty dirty (cigarette butts, feces, misc food wrappings, etc).

We went here every day. This beach was so far superior to Copacabana or Ipanema. There is a huge partk with green grass going right down to the sand. You can sit under a tree in the shade and enjoy the beach and the view....More

Not as crowded, good sand, can get into shade under a tree as there is park next to the beachfront... Good place to have a run as you can run in the park.
