walk along Avenida Atlantica during the day or night and you will experience Rio at its best. the day is filled with restaurants, and beaches and at night you will see the artists, markets, samba dancing, musicians and have a full night of entertainment at your leisure. A wonderful experience that you do not have to plan ahead of time

Best at day, the walk along Avenida Atlantica is a must while in Rio. There are ample places to grab reasonably priced drinks and food and lots of people watching available.

Mile after mile of beach and ocean. This is Rio, the beach, people, restaurants and high rise hotels. What a site and I loved it.

This avenue is pretty clean especially compared to city streets in the US. I think it helps that there are trash bins every few meters or so and that they seem to be emptied almost daily. There are a lot of homeless people along this avenida every night but they did not really bother us. They usually stick by the... More

Excellent place for a stroll, after eating in one of the restaurants that are spread all over the avenue. The breeze coming from the sea and slapping your face is an amazing experience. It´s very good for people with disabilities since it´s long and the pavement is large.

Here is a place to put you in the best mood ever. First of all, you will see people from all over the world. Second, locals and tourists are jogging/biking along the bike path, and I recommend you to lose some calories there to. Third, the ocean is just steps away. Fourth, all kiosks serve the famous Caipirinha! Or coconut... More

Avenida Atlantica is the busy multi lane road that runs along the entire 4 mile stretch of the famous Copacabana Beach. The beachfront promenade on the east side of the road is paved in the unique black and white wave patterned mosaic walkway and beside the sidewalk are lively beach front kiosks, bars and restaurants. The opposite side is replete... More

WE loved it here, great place to watch people. It was very active, families, ball games going on and lots of choices to have dinner. It's the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
