Pagoda with a living representative
Dec 2019
Of course, the architecture of the pagoda itself is very interesting, but the living representative of the deity - a huge fat boa - takes the main attention.

People come to see the snake
Nov 2019
One almost doesn't see the pagoda here as the focus is on the 129 year old Burmese Python in residence. The snake is impressive to be sure but so much so the rest of the pagoda is almost forgotten.

We came back to Bago to see this snake , the staff was friendly and did not hassle us , we gave a donation

Many guide will give you information on the history, the road leading to pagoda is not sealed and lots of rubbish dumped

Great to see the huge snake and hear the stories

The Princess Python Doesn't Do Much
May 2019 • Solo
But isn't that how princesses should behave? I thought it was worth seeing this huge python that is revered in local culture. Don't make a special trip to Bago just to see it, but if you are already there, go for it!

My boy was super excited when our driver told us there is a snake temple.
Temple located uphill near local residences.
Nothing special, 130years old snake.
Luckily we dont have to pay for entrance like many other attractions/ temples/pagodas in Myanmar.

It houses a rather large snake...
Apr 2018 • Business
So read the reviews and expected many people there. I took a group of teenagers there one Thursday afternoon during the end of a habitat for humanity build and was surprised to be the only visitors there at the moment. Some monks came in as we left. We were able to enter the den with the snake. She wasn’t very active while there, but I will say it is one of the healthiest snakes I’ve seen. I have seen a Burmese python larger than this one. I also am doubtful on the age-they claim she is 129 years old...been there 19 years. I’m not so sure she’s that old. However, she is large and when in Burma, one should see a Burmese Python!

Missable
Feb 2018 • Couples
The journey to the venue is more interesting than the venue. Granted it is a huge and very healthy looking snake, but it seems to be nothing more than a money grabbing process. A dingy room to the right of the main temple Didn’t quite pick up the religious significance of a snake excepting that it was once a woman.. if you want to see a huge python close up...

Defintely a place to go
Nov 2017 • Friends
The snake travelled from Shan State to Bago. How do people know? Becos before the snake arrived it gave a dream to the resident Abbot of the Monastry. It is huge and I touched it, though I have never touched a snake before in my life. You can feel its gentleness despite its huge size. A miracle.

Interesting Python!
Feb 2017 • Friends
Even though I don't believe that the python is super old but it is a gorgeous looking Burmese Python and the way it lives around people is unique.

Unique Experience!
Sep 2016 • Couples
Asked specifically to visit on a moto-taxi tour of the Bago region.
Really unique experience to see the huge Burmese pythons.
Worshippers offer money to the snakes for good luck (although some seemed more interested in taking photos with us than the snakes!)
