It's fun

It's fun! You will meet locals there who actually use the train as a means of transportation. It's sort of a MUST when you visit Battambang.

Great experience it's a must do in Battambang. The children at the end were a bit overwhelming for me but make sure you have $1 notes to buy some bracelets! Fantastic watching how the trains disassemble when they meet another train!!

If you have kids, do it! If you dont, do it anyway! Dont belive what people write about kids selling souvenirs at the half way stop. Relax, sit down in a "store", remember that this is poor people who has find a way to earn some money. My T- shirt was 4 dollar and i got a lovely chat with... More

If you like sitting on a flat board with a very thin cushion while you travel along the this is for you. Scenery is almost non existent with only an occasional glimpse of rice fields. At the end you are besieged by sellers, at least a cold beer was available. When a train coming the other way is met the... More

Fun and unique. Make sure you wear sunblock. You will be politely reminded by several people to tip your train car driver at the end. Ride the bamboo train while it still exists!

About 20 minutes from town is this famous railway. YouTube is a good source of videos and information. Drivers in tuk tucks can be hired for a fair price, they will take you there and bring you back, sometimes with extra sightseeing thrown in around town. The Bamboo train takes about 20 minutes to arrive at a small village that... More

It is just cheap and fun. You get your own bamboo platform on wheels with an engine en there you go. It goes really fast and makes a lot of noise, but who cares. The only thing I didn't like so much about it was that when reach the end of the track the let you wait there for 15... More

This single track railway apparently runs all the way to Thailand ! We rode it 7kms to a n. Old brick factory and back . Yo u sit on an exposed platform and get off if you meet someone coming in the opposite direction , they take the platform and the running wheels of , let the other party pass... More

The Bamboo train in Battambang is a little bit of a thrill in what otherwise is a more laid back, uneventful town after being in Siem Reap. It's not far by Tuk Tuk to the bamboo train, which is bamboo slats on wheels powered by what looked like a lawn mower engine to hurl it along the bumpy and not-so-straight... More
