We stopped at Coquimbo on a cruise in April. We hired a private guide because we had gifts from our Mayor to bring to mayor of our sister city, La Serena. What a wonderful surprise that she took us up to Cruz Del Tercer Milenio....More

A pretty impressive monument that was built in just 10 months in 1999 for the millennium. You can walk up or get a collectivo up there. It;s 2000 to get in which isn't too bad. There is a huge bell which was going off as...More

The cross is located in El Vigia Hill and dominates the skyline and land escape of Coquimbo. There is a museum dedicated to John Paul II and an elevator ride to the top. This is Coquimbo's version of Rio de Janeiro's Christ The Redeemer statue...More

Aside from an expensive Helo ride the view of Coquimbo and surrounding area is awesome from here. If you are a senior, take advantage of the cheaper entry fee..there are 3 viewing areas, museum, top and 'cross' as it were. If you don't speak Spanish...More

Big concrete cross with church bell tower and small museum. Not much more to say really. I guess if you're in town as a tourist you should do this.

We really liked the Cruz. It is an impressive landmark and the views from inside at the top are terrific. While maybe not the most beautiful structure ever, it is certainly an impressive structure. If you decide to go, I cannot stress enough that you...More

Well I just completed a voyage from San Diego, Ca. to Santiago, Chile and one of the stops along the way was Coquimbo, Chile. I had read so much about this area and I wanted to see as much as I possibly could in one...More
