We ended our tour to La Serena at this location. Busy, clean, plenty of vendors, locals and tourists. The market is located both indoors and outdoors. The indoor section is located in a colonial building that oozes charm. An abundance of produce and products available....More

The La Recova Minicipal Market has a lot to offer from great local eateries to clothes stores and souvenir shops. I recommend a visit even if it's just to walk around

On Sunday a lot of shops are closed. From outside La Recova restaurant waiters are already stalking you to get them in their restaurant, which we found really annoying. In 5 minutes around 10 waiters stalked us. Shops are ok for souvenirs.

I'm not a fan of artisan markets at all, but I really liked the building and this is the main reason I recommend visiting. It's colonial charm got me. We've had lunch upstairs and I really enjoyed it so I can recommend eating there as...More

This is a fun place for a quick selection of Chilean articles. Seasons are opposite of North America so I was able to buy a sweater for a very good price because they are ready to get out their spring and summer things! Since visiting...More

This not an artisan market. Just about every stall has the same touristy stuff--and very little of quality. There are a few stands selling fruit and a few stand on the perimeter selling so called hand made jewelry. There is nothing here worth going out...More

After visiting 3 of the stone colonial churches in La Serena, it was time to change our mood. We went into the market right next to San Agustín Church. Inside and outside of the court yard was full of craft vendors and shops. It was...More

Come here for handcrafts. But do not expect them to be that nice. Also, everyone in the market has the same products. Not really that many options. Lots and lots of papayas (a nice local fruit) in so many different preparations. Many local restaurants on...More

Don't expect to be blown away at La Recova. Things are pretty simple with the same ol' crafts that are scattered across Chile. If you want something original, I would advise to go outside the market to the artisanal tables scattered around the outside courtyard....More
