La Serena, Chili is a very old quaint city founded in 1544. The town square and the Plaza De Armas areas of the city seem to be the center attraction with the local market, places to eat and of course many shops. We had an...More

The best thing about this plaza was that it had free Wi-Fi. It was spotty, but it worked okay. I normally don't go to central plazas for the Wi-Fi, but I needed to book a few things and didn't want to go sit in some...More

Most cities in Spanish South America have a central square with monuments' La Serena is no different. Not the imposing place of the same name that can be found in Santiago, but a good place to take an empanada and soak up the seemingly-alwaus-perfect weather...More

It was nice to sit in the sun and wander around the shops. There are restaurants and coffee shops in the area, and all in a short walk from Costa Real

A great place with a lot of open spaces but there's nothing to do. The city council must to look after for it. Parking lots are "controlled" for some guys that offers car wash, not so good idea for foreigners who doesn't understand this practice.

Really nice public space with plenty of places to sit. Not a whole lot to do in this town but I enjoyed seeing the plaza.

In the main square there was a lot of vendors set up around the perimeter offering all different types of things. We ended up just getting some ice cream and checking out all the different things that people were selling. It had a great feel...More

Nothing eye-catching to find there, although a street market close by (away from the sea) is a good place to spend some time.

The beach promenade of La Serena looks like it's had better days so if you find yourself in this city, head up from the dated though iconic lighthouse into the old city centre and the Plaza de Armas and old cathedral. This has a beautiful...More
