We went on one of the tours organised by Suntravel starting out from San Pedro. There are lots of providers. Some are better than others and I am afraid I can't recommend ours. It is a very early start. 5am or earlier depending on where you are staying. Our bus was over one hour late and we had to wait... More

The steam from the Geysers is most visible at dawn so we got up at an excruciating 3.30am for a 2 hour bumpy ride on a dark and cold bus. I have never been so cold in my life and we even wore the bus’ blankets outside as we walked around! We were able to get close enough to the... More

Is very early, very cold and the altitude can be a problem. Have a rest the night before, eat light and don´t have any alcohol. You´ll be fine.

Be ready to get up really early to travel to this remote area but the steam fumaroles, geysers and multi-coloured mineral deposits are incredible. NB don't go after 11am as the heat evaporates the rising steam and they look nothing like as spectacular.

We went early morning and the steam rose from the geysers while the air was still cold. I bit of a long ride to get there but worth it.

We set off early to be there for dawn as the steam geysers can't be seen once the sun rises - the temperature goes from below zero to really warm in minutes. Surreal sight like wraiths floating over the ground. You can get really close to the water boiling out of the ground - there are even baby geysers you... More

Worth the early wake up at 04:00 so to be at 06:00, the landscape is amazing. Breakfast by the Geysers and then swimming in the aqua caliente pool, the water is hot, the air temperature is cold, you are at 4300 meters high

The geysers were very overcrowded, although we got there very late compared to other tours so people cleared out which was nice. Neat place to visit, I haven't seen anything like it before.

This is a must see, and because of this and the limiting factors of the temperature allowing most spectacular steam viewing 6-8am EVERYBODY is here together!! We travelled with Desert Adventures for 18000 and park entrance of 9000, pick up early morning and a coach of 27 but don't pay more for a small tour, everywhere you arrive are 7... More
