Beautiful and well maintained traditional Chinese village about 45 minutes drive from Tunxi. A relaxing stroll around the lake, the alleys and old building to admire the nice scenery, history and life in the old days. Worth visiting.

This use to be a separate village from hong village but as hong village expanded it got swallowed up. It's a bit like the suburbs the roads are wider and their are more shops but in reality it's not really as nice.

We went there as part of a trip to Huangshan mountain. It is a very beautiful village, nice and clean. I wish we have had more time, I could have spend a full day there to watch the details and just walk around.

I keep reading how complicated could be to travel to Huangshan scenic area without a tour guide. And although I do agree that the trip does get limited since not many locals speak english, it doesnt mean u can't find your way and enjoy it. If u are a backpacker that don't mind asking questions with limited language, then is... More

I am impressed. Our trip to Hongcun was probably the highlight of or trip to Huangshan. We had to pay 100¥ for entry and unfortunately did not get any student discount. However, it was definitely worth the money. This quaint little village was dull of chinese art students which gave the place some sense of live, without making it to... More

A beautiful village, the Moon Pond in the centre is just gorgeous with the reflections of the ancient buildings. We visited here with an English speaking guide and we feel we saw plenty, without him we wouldn't have explored so extensively. Enjoyed lunch here in a quiet lane way. Hundreds of art students everywhere and lots of tourists, we visited... More

Every piece of architecture, wood carving, alley, canal and local dishes has its meaning, story or rather history. Visit one of the most grandious mansion of its time and imagine how opulently the filthy rich and powerful lived and decorated their homes. Recommended to hire a local tour guide for a full narration. Oh yes! Remember to ask the tour... More

Definitely worth spending half a day there. When you visit, hopefully you will have an English speaking guide who can give you a bit of history about this place. Many of these open courtyard with wood columns are built without any nails and are being held up by just wood pegs, like many of the ancient Chinese architecture. And what's... More

We visited Hongcun on our way to visit Huangshan. It's a beautiful village and the famous film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger" was once shot here.
