The botanical gardens are so beautiful and well kept! My favorites are definitely the greenhouse and the Japanese garden. Definitely a must visit!

The Botannical Gardens is located in Mountain Brook near the zoo. It is a peaceful area of exquisite nature. A favorite place for family pictures as well as well as to enjoy flowers and shrubs galore. There is a lovely little restaurant for lunch and private rooms available for receptions and parties. A wonderful plant sale is held several times... More

We came at the tail end of the day and ate a light supper just inside the gardens. Even in winter when most things are leafless this place has a gorgeous charm. Japanese garden is beautiful and so zen!

I saw this garden as I was running the 2016 Dirt Dash 5K through the garden. (I'm not a fast runner, so I did get a good feel for the different areas.) The Garden is a free entry and has many lovely sitting areas...a great place to spend a lazy day OR do a fun and challenging 5K! Parts of... More

January isn't probably the best month to visit these gardens, but we really enjoyed our walk around the grounds. Everything was so peaceful. It was a great way to get some exercise after being in the car for a while.

Hadn't visited in 30 years or so. Since it was January there wasn't any pretty flowers or blossoming trees to see. But the walking trails were so peaceful and pleasant. Some hills to climb, but nothing strenuous. Many small niche gardens, with plants well marked. Some larger trees were marked with their names, but most kinds of oaks and pines... More

This is a great day trip if you love plants. The gardens are beautiful year round. There are lots of other activities as well as visiting the gardens. The gift shop is also awesome.

We visited the gardens in early November. The only plants that were blooming were the roses - quite a collection, at least 20 varieties. However, it was nice strolling the grounds -especially the Japanese gardens. Would love to see the place in mid May when the flowering plants should be spectacular.
