The old town of Dali is bigger and easier to walk around in than Lijang. Everywhere good places to have a drink or eat some local food. It is a enjoyable place to walk around and smell the culture.

This can be part of your visit to Dali Old Town. It is charming and you can find things you want to buy.

It's called Foreigner Street, but we only saw a handful of "foreigners" during our three day stay in Dali! It was nice to find english signage (as well as Chinese) explaining the various shops and buildings, unlike many other areas we'd already visited in China....More

This one of many streets in Dali old town selling food, drinks, gifts etc. As with similar streets we visited during our time in China it is best explored at night time when it is much prettier.

Good for shopping for food or buying gifts. It took me about 2 hours to cover and then I had little meal.

This is one of the many streets in Dali ancient town. I suppose it got its name as foreign visitors tend to congregate here. As expected, there were many western restaurants, cafes, tea houses and gift shops here, with English signboards to attract foreigners. Nothing...More

Very touristy and popular area. The girls of our group were just busy all day long checking out that street. I highly recommend to come here and explore it yourselfe although it has something almost disneyland like.

This street is just one of several streets that comprises the core of the Dali Ancient Town. It’s unclear why this street gets a separate entry. It’s the entire Ancient Town area that’s interesting - not this one particular street. See the entry under “Dali...More
