Went to Suhe ancient town however prefer Lijiang Ancient Town. I prefer the later than former as the Suhe is more quite. There is square in the Lijiang Ancient whereby folk dances were held every now and there. A lot of ancient buildings. Entrance fee is RMB80 per person and valid for one month. There is a wax museum inside... More

too busy, and I only spent 1 hour there, to go Shuhe instead, same thing only smaller, prettier and lots of ethnic Chinese which you won't see anywhere else, and the dancing in the evening is superb.

The town was very pretty and the hotel that me and my family stayed in was in the old town, which made trips harder and easier. Since we stayed there for 4 days, me and my sister had a deep tour around this place. The pineapple rice and the rose biscuit thing was ASTONISHING (flash reference), and all the little... More

Lijiang's old town is soaring. The many many merchants along the stone streets are making a lot of money, some overcharging big time, some not. The ancient beauty of Lijiang is best viewed from above, so try and find a rooftop spot to get a look at the beautiful overview. However, Lijiang old town has become overly touristic. Still, it... In 1997, LiJiang old town achieved UNESCO world heritage listing. At the time, it was a genuine traditional village in which some 50,000 Naxi people lived with few if any hotels or tourist shops. It had however been devastated by an earthquake in 1996 and needed substantial rebuilding. Commerce stepped in lured by the tourist potential of world heritage listing.... More

I've been here few days, I feel like this city as no soul. To me looks like a fake town built for tourist, that's why no soul. What else I didn't like is that you have to pay 80 rmb per person to go inside, ticket will last one month, but you will stay there just few days. I have... More

Having read many negative views about Lijiang Old Town, I was prepared for the worst. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and architecture of this place. We took a few hours walking around and had no issues with pushy vendors, crowds, tourist traps, etc. The people working there were friendly and polite. We came across a group of women,... More

If you have been to Shangrila and Dali, then This old town is just so so. Too touristy, all selling similar stuff. Its very easy also to get lost as there is no proper signage yet. Its almost like visiting Yu yuan garden in Shanghai. 2 days in Lijiang is enough.

While everything in the old town of Lijiang is overpriced (calculate around 200 RMB per meal for two people) - and that's on top of a 80 RMB 'town entrance fee'. However, if you are willing to spend the money, you'll get a look at a truely beautiful ancient Chinese town. We visited not only Lijiang, but also Dali. And... More
