Quite impressive local cultural show, very colourful cultural costumes. Impressive display of vocals, their powerful voices can be heard without even using a microphone, especially the ladies. I especially like the part where troops of men marching in, like what you see in movies. The...More

The show tells about the local history. Comparing to the impression show in Yangshou or Hangzhou, this show just does not worth it. Skip.

My tips if you intend to watch the show: 1. It is best to check the show times. According to English website show times: 9am, 11am, 2pm (peak season); 11am, 2pm (off season). This is incorrect for off peak season. I visited in end Sep,...More

A stunning show.. and it is a must to see! However, a couple of miscues within the theatre. The wind- the trash brought by the viewers left blows while the show continues. The spectators with kids- the parenting sometimes can be better handled. I understand...More

Grand, stunning backdrop against the Jade Dragon Snow Mountains, with over 300 dancers, 20 dancers at. Typical Zhang Yimou production, very poetic, focused on the ethnic identity ( all the dancers, actors are not actually professionals but tribes people trained to perform) BUT a lot...More

No need to buy VIP ticket as if you go 15-20 minutes early, you can get good seats. Don't sit on bottom section but sit at the top rows to get the dramatic mountain backdrop. It can get very sunny but they provide free hats...More

watch out for the blazing sun while waiting for the show to start, one must wear hat, breathing clothing including scarve, long sleeves cover, maybe gloves, certainly sunblock, and sun glasses. Since it is in high altitude, the air is fresh but the temperature can...More

The show under the sky at 2pm is way too hot. Most of people needed to wear eyes glasses, hats and holding umbrella throughout the show. The cost of the show is too high with the entrance ticket to the national reserve (130) and the...More

We thoroughly enjoyed the live show seeing the culture of the NAXI. The performance shows different types of local songs and dancing. There are miniature horses with cowboys and great musical numbers. Both adults and children enjoyed the show. The cast is several hundred and...More

This lavish show employs the local people in an extravaganza that describes some of their culture. Produced by the same director as did the Olympic opening show, it is colorful with costumed, dancing, and singing local actors. The stage is custom made and is intended...More

you can buy at the entrance hall, or contact your hotel for the group tickets which are much cheaper. They are able to arrange you into a group of 10.

There are a couple of shows a day but depending on the season. I caught the one at 11am. Tickets are available at the entrance, costs about Rmb200. Get there early as it can get really crowded as the amphitheater sits many.
