Relaxing walk around the Old Castle, nice atmosophere in Varazdin. It is only 1 hour away from Zagreb, don't miss to visit baroque city. Hidden gem.

Perched above the city with earth-bermed walls still intact (a moat surrounded the place, which is easy to imagine), the castle is majestic and almost surreal since there is so much greenery around it. A short walk through an outbuilding, across a real drawbridge, you are in the Old Town. Just stunning!

If you are passing by or you are near to this castle , you should visit it and explore a bit more because it has some interesting things that you should see but overall it's nothing special so if you miss it dont worry.

It's on a small hill with beautiful views. In front of the square excellent cafes, restaurants, buzzing until late in life.

The is an enormous keep which you don't see as you approach the fortress and is believed to have been created in the 12th Century. However the main feel of a a 19th Century family living in this grand house with portraits and furnishings to match.

Most popular and historic part of Varaždin. It is a good thing to visit on sunny days. Even it is good for romantic walks with significant other.

We visited Varazdin castle on a misty, overcast day which added great ambience to the place. The building itself is an amazing sight with white/terracotta against the grey skies all amidst a man made embankment which represented huge human effort at fortification. Inside the castle/museum we found typically Croatian approaches to allow visitors visual and close proximity to their history... More

This Castle has a heap of character and opens to the public on the weekends. Beautiful gardens and a must see when in Varazdin.
