The Historical Park of Guayaquil is and amazing option for Guayaquil.The park has a very hight percentage of animal that bread in captivity due to the natural area they are kept in as well as the way they are demonstrate out in the open not in cages.
The only animals caged are the Ocelotes and the Harpy Eagle.

Hi what you plan sounds good. It would take about 20mins from the airport to the park, and a couple of hours would probably be all you would need to look around. We took the bus but taxis are fairly reasonable if you get the price first. We stayed in Dreamkapture Hostel ($5 from the airport) but we were recommended to stay at El Manso right on the Malecon where there are plenty of dining options, and the airport is pretty close to town. We were referred by the host where we stayed at Tonsupa (Guido) who knew the manager of El Manso (Ricardo) personally. When we saw it later it did look a very nice hotel.
