An excellent portrayal of local history over the past 500 years, narrated in both English and Spanish at the press of a button. Depicting early settlement and pirate raids to the development of a modern city through Colonial rule to the formation with Indepence, all...More

Essentially, you enter a snaking display that takes you through a chronological account of Guayaquil’s history, with a focus on the last 500 years. The museum uses a combination of high quality and interesting miniature models, with audio explanations (in both Spanish and English). It...More

Learned quite a bit about the history of the city. Took about 45 mins to complete. Would be nice to have some seats to soak it all in. But the audio recordings keep it moving. So seats are probably not possible.

The museum is in the same building as the IMAX. Our hostel was directly across the street from this museum and we were anxious to visit. It was closed due to earthquake, but there are no posted signs saying it's closed.
