Memorable experience

Amazing place to drop in if you are interested in History. While others have written about what you can see here, I would like to applaud the staff here.
Be it Laxman the ticketing incharge or the security gaurd, they take the extra mile to welcome you and make your comfortable.
Laxman went out of his way to explain and show us around and share the details about the place.

Caves curved out of solid stone
Jan 2021
Undavalli Caves are actually located in Guntur District, but this caves are easy accessible from Vijayawada. Located at 6 km away from Vijayawada and 22 km away from Guntur

This Caves are curved out of solid stone on a hill side in the 4th to 5th Centuries.
Actually this Caves are four story rock cut hindu temple.

The ground floor is dedicated to Trimurthy (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva). It is said that Ground floor is an unfinished curved temple

Second floor is most amazing and must visit place of Undavalli caves where one can see Large Vishnu Shrine in sleeping position.

Third floor is adorned with numerous sculptures of Lions and Elephants

Fourth floor which is top floor of this caves is also unfinished one.

Walk the history
Jan 2021 • Family
History is can be understood by seeing a place NOT ONLY by reading in books. Architecture is of buddhist vihara and also there is a huge rock cut anatha padmanabha swamy. Example of interfaith peaceful co-existence.

Went with pre teen kid. Sure was impressed and enthused by the sights.
Learnings for adults too.

Drivable from Vijayawada, On other side of Krishna (Guntur Dist). Parking could be a problem on a crowded day. Round trip is 3 hrs max.

Must go atleast take your kids - absorb the small standing testimony of cultural history of the region.

Famous Rock Cut Cave Temples
Nov 2019
This is one of the famous rock cut cave temples of Andhra. The rock cut caves are having four floors with the second floor exclusively dedicated to Lord Ranganthaswamy who is in a lying position. The lawn around the caves is well laid and maintained.

Some of the sculptures in the caves are damaged and has been redone by ASI, who maintain these caves. The sculptures in the third floor balcony is completely redone. You get a good view of the lush green fields around the place as you view from the fourth floor.

This is a nice place for travelers to relax during a trip to this place. This is also a photographers' delight. The view of sun setting behind the caves is beautiful to capture.

A mesmerizing old age Monument
Dec 2018
This Monument is surrounded with a pleasant Lush Green backdrop and is a relief to the Eyes. One can wonder that how such beautiful caves were carved out of the Hilly Mountains. A must see place when you are in or around Vijayawada.
