Caves are good, mostly ruined but still preserves great history. Take a ferry from Gateway of India (return fare Rs185). You need to pay village panchayat tax Rs5, Entry ticket Rs30. You can easily get food and water there. Bargain well when you are shopping....More

There are lots (from memory, circa 70+) of steep steps to reach the plateau of the cave entrance. The locals do offer a sedan chair ride up, but not sure how comfortable / stable that would be. Don't forget it's also circa 1... More

During weekends every 20-30 mins, weekdays depending on number of people are visiting.
Is there any post office near elephanta caves ? if yes then how near is it to the caves? thank you.
