This is the most important temple within Royal Palace compound in Ayutthaya and corresponds to the Emerald Buddha Temple in Bangkok's Grand Palace. It was a 16m tall Buddha image covered with gold weighing about 170kgs built in the 15th century and later, in the 17th century Burmese set fire to the image to melt off the gold thereby destroying... The temple is very beautiful. You can walk around in a peaceful environment. We took a bicycle for the day and really enjoyed walking and bicycling around. This temple was one of the most beautiful - and for sure the most impressive !

Went here with a private guide but you really don't need one. Very hot during the midday better to come in the morning or in the evening. Great historical site and great photo opportunities. Don't miss this one!

Though it's a good car ride from Bangkok, this site is a must see. If you are a lover history, old civilizations or seeing ruins, all of Ayutthaya is a great destination. The ruins are amazing, thankfully the tourist crowd has not ruined this place as we know many known tourist locations can get this way. Seeing the ruins blows... More

Beautiful area of Ayutthaya and the ruins of the ancient capital have so many sights it's difficult to chose which to see in a limited time but this is my must see , This was the grandest of temples in the old capital before the sacking by the Burmese and you certainly get a feel for the grandeur when walking... You can enjoy sightseeing of the stupas/bells structure of this temple as well as to climb the temples. One of some spots in Ayutthaya which you cannot miss

These historical ruins offer a glimpse in to how mighty this cultural was in previous times. There are many ruins to visit, and can be done at a leisurely pace without the crowds from Bangkok pressing into you. It's truly amazing to be there in person and contemplate how these large structures were built with such limited resources and technology!

Like all the other ruins in Ayutthaya- these ones are also not to be missed. It's amazing how the whole town is built around these. They are such an anomaly.

This is definitly a worthwhile stop if you want to see a fairly well preserved ancient wat, that is unique. You will wander around thiswat fromallangles to photograph the many views. See it at night when itis all lit up and looks so different.
