Famous for its tourist-friendly floating markets, Damnoen Saduak is the one you’ll find in the tourist literature on Thailand. Bring your camera along to witness the river packed with wooden boats overflowing with fruit and vegetables, which they sell to people standing on land. The scene is colourful and loud; just as you’d expect from a Thai market. Just 100km from Bangkok, it’s best accessed by package tour, which any local tour operator can organize.

Me and two friends chose this instead a Waterfalls trip, we expected a bit more but it was goo to visit a bit crowded and lot of pushy seller.

We contacted a guy from Bangkok that was bringing us to this market by 550Bhats go and back which we thought it was a good price. Once there we stopped in a car park were the drivers would be waiting for the tourits and we would take a boat through some canals to get to the floating market. We were... More

nothing to see. 4000 baht entry fee. Taxi will rip you off too. This is a scam. a lot of taxi drivers make a living offering you low price, they make commission. 4000 baht entry fee for such a place is real rip off

Get a private long-tailed boat. We booked one with a guide before our trip and got a very discounted rate, It was so worth it. Loved our day trip here!

A bitter disappointment and to be avoided. It is full of boats carrying tourists and very few traders in boats. On the riverbank however you can hardly move with stalls selling the same junk you see in every other crappy Thai street market. Would not recommend a trip here.

Was slightly disappointed in the floating market. Yes, it was interesting to see, but after that, the novelty wore off and it was a bit unsettling to see the conditions that the people there live in and what they do to make money. The items offered were mostly tourist trinkets that weren't worth even seeing. Many of the stalls have... More

This market is worth the experience. We paid to go down the market in a boat and had a great time. We bought food and beer and sat back and relaxed to take it all in. Prices for shopping a decent. They start out very high but come down to comparable prices as you walk away. This is something you... More

Befriended a van driver outside my hotel and eventually decided to go here with him. 1500 baht for the drive seemed fair enough. I skimmed TA on the way there and he could tell I was onto him, lol. He took me to the docks, despite saying I want to walk only, no boats. 2000 baht was the cheapest ticket.... More

Visiting the floating market is definitely worth your time. We got there by bus as part of a bigger tour, then switched to a typical longboat, driven by a motor with a propeller on a rod. The local manoeuvred it with dexterity and offered us a round tour on the canals, passing many village houses. Passing through the forrest along... More

Avoid these floating markets & find other ones!! Set up purely to rip off tourists - I will forever be annoyed at myself for coughing up the cash!!! Like many tourist things in Thailand this place could be soooo much better if it was set up differently - like maybe a tour guide telling you the history & making it... More
