Famous for its tourist-friendly floating markets, Damnoen Saduak is the one you’ll find in the tourist literature on Thailand. Bring your camera along to witness the river packed with wooden boats overflowing with fruit and vegetables, which they sell to people standing on land. The scene is colourful and loud; just as you’d expect from a Thai market. Just 100km from Bangkok, it’s best accessed by package tour, which any local tour operator can organize.

The first mistake we made was forgetting to ask if there happened to be some sort of admission price (one wouldn't think so as it is just a market - right?). After a 1 hour frantic high speed taxi trip (with no seat belts) for...More

My title might sound bit strange and wierd but I reached that conclusion after spending 4000 Bhat. Looking at the pictures, the history and the reviews I was pretty excited to visit the floating market. But getting there by taxi after about an hour drive...More

I booked a private driver for a whole day to visit this River Market from Bangkok, so we can do the River Market & Maeklong and back without much hassle, as I am travelling with my family with two kids. The nightmare begins when the...More

1. Set expectations with the boat driver before you sit down, even better, go with a tour and communicate your expectations but let them know. 2. Expect to eat something. It will save you arguing with the boat driver. Have the Thai fried rice. 3....More

This was quite a unique experience. We went there with a tour guide from East meets West Travel. We travelled by car to view a smaller floating market (Ka Market) first and then we went by long boat through the canals to Damnoen Saduak Floating...More

We booked this tour in our hotel for 2000 Bah. Unfortunately, once we were in the bus, the guide explained to us that it only covered the transportation to the market (bus and speed boat). However, if we wanted to see the "floating market" we...More

Not much things to see. Saw so much review but nothing. Per adult is like 1000 baht for boat ride. Transport is hassle.

No redeeming features for this scam. Spent over 2,000 Bhat on Taxi and then the ticket touts were charging from 3,000 to 5,000 Bhat for a boat. We got the cheapest option at 3,000 Bhat. Although angry at myself, we should just have walked away,...More

Well worth a visit! Complete tourist trap and the sellers can be a bit pushy (like any other market in the world!), but its a slice of Thai culture like no other. We took a private tour which dropped us off outside the markets so...More

To those who paid 2000 bath, you get a private motorised boat. If you get to the market itself ( a left turn and less than 1 km away) and park there, you can expect to pay 20 - 40 bath per person and get a nice... More
