Canceled boat without notice...
What else to say ? We were looking forward to discover the national park and it will never be possible now as we depart tomorrow... Very sad

Please, next time, take our WhatsApp or any other means to contact us in case of cancellation! If we had known, it would have been possible to book another company... Even in the morning :( It is not sufficient to call our hotel... You have to make sure we get the message at least...

Very sad and disappointing...

Before you change your methods, I would strongly recommend to avoid Orion to anyone reading this... They do not care enough about their clients to even tell the cancellation... They let you wait in front of your hotel until it is too late to depart for the national park

The trip was ok and well organized
They served food for lunch and a sandwich for a small break in the afternoon. The only problem is that you need to stick to their time schedule and they do not tell anything about the place you are visiting

We booked the Ang Thong tour with Orion via our hotel which included pick up and drop off.

We had a really enjoyable time and Ang Thong is an absolute must see whilst on Ko Phangan and in my opinion is up there with Halong Bay and El Nido although a smaller version.

A couple of negative points: the boat was a bit tatty and looked like it could do with a refurb. The downstairs area was cramped with peeling paint, so don’t imagine you are walking on to a yacht if doing this trip. Whilst we did get told about the activities, clearer instructions on the programme for the day would have been helpful for planning. We were often told 2 minutes before what we were doing and it felt a bit rushed and disorganised at points.

The staff however were really sweet and relaxed, and they kept us well fed and the food was really good.

The places we visited were amazing. We stopped off initially to snorkel at Koh Wao - the reef was pretty with lots of fish, but because of the recent rain the visibility wasn’t great in parts. It was really nice to see though. A reminder by the staff not to stand on the coral would have been helpful as a few people on our tour were standing on the coral which I was not happy about.

We then went to Ao Ka Beach where we did some kayaking. It felt a little bit rushed here and not as leisurely as we would have liked, but we appreciated we had a programme to follow.

We then went to Koh Mae Koh where after a short climb we got some lovely views of the emerald lagoon. The walk up is probably 10 minutes.

We then got back on the boat and headed to Koh Wua Talap Island where we hiked up to the top and saw the most beautiful views of the islands below. It took me 25 minutes to walk up and I am reasonably fit. They advise it takes 30 minutes to get up to the top but if you are not fit, it will take more than 30 minutes. This hike is tough with very steep steps which were a bit treacherous (up and down) and make sure you bring good walking shoes / shoes that provide support. The way down was just as tough. In any case, you get an hour and 40 minutes on the island which should give enough time to get up and down and enjoy the views and have some beach time.

We were fortunate to have perfect weather and overall it was a really enjoyable day.

We booked the Ang Thong tour with Orion for the following day, and then saw all the bad reviews and tried to cancel as we were put off, but it was too late so we decided to go on the tour still. I’m so glad it was too late to cancel, because we are really not sure why it has so many bad reviews!!

The food was amazing, the boat was nice and the staff were so lovely. We really enjoyed all the stops and everything was organised and explained to us well!

It was a shame that the sea was a bit rough and the visibility could have been better for the snorkelling - but this is no fault of Orion’s and just one of those things!

Overall we had a really lovely day, so don’t get put off by the bad reviews, we couldn’t fault it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Boat was cancelled on the day we wanted to take the trip, due to high winds. Perhaps because of this, the boat was VERY full on the next day. We left very late after a breakfast of stale biscuits and fruit. It was past 11 when we arrived at the snorkelling stop, where we waited for twenty minutes before pulling away, being told we could snorkel later.

An OK lunch was served on the boat and we moved on to the lake, which was pretty but overcrowded. Some went kayaking; the kayaks left marks on clothes from where they had been patched up. The hike up to the viewpoint was enjoyable, but I found it a bit of a struggle because…. the sea was so rough on this big boat that I threw up several times and had an empty stomach most of the day. We were offered a snack of sandwiches in the afternoon, but they had mostly run out by the time we arrived.

At the end of the day, we were offered ice creams. I think it was to try to cheer us all up.

Very fun and relaxing boat trip to the stunning Ang Thong Marine Park. The guys on the boat are very relaxed and our guide was very nice, speaking nice english, giving us all the information and joking around. Breakfast, lunch and snack were great and timed perfectly after some challenging activities like climbing to the viewpoint. The view is spectacular altough the climbing was very hard. Everything workout perfectly!

We booked daily trip to the national park. The weather condition from the beginning was not stable, especially on the open sea ( strong wind and big waves ). During the day we had kayak for short time, no snorkelling, didn't visit the cave, without any refound of money. On our way back the situation was the same with the bad weather, people had sea sick, parents with small kids were totally afraid. As I'm a fisherman by myself, I know what it means bad weather, and I know what it means be a Captain and what are the responsability.
Our trip today was no safety, no profesional, not organize at all.
I sincerelly hope that today the owner of the company, or the Captain tooked really bad decidion and put life of all passenger in denger and will not do it again, because we're not talking about money, we're talking about human life

It was not at all how it was described on the pamphlet. I did the tour about 8 years ago and it was wonderful but with this tour group ‘Orion’ it was terrible. We were a large group crammed onto a speedboat, one lady had a baby with her as we were meant to be in a slow moving big boat, she was obviously upset as this was dangerous for them. Everyone was scared, vomiting and crying. My partner was badly injured and they had no way of communicating with land to help us in what was an emergency. I have been in many tours in Thailand and have lived in the country for many years so I know what to expect and how to manage my expectations. This was honesty awful. I would highly recommend NOT going on this dangerous tour with this group.

Guys don't board the Orion Boats (aka Phangan Boats) to the Ang Thong Marine National Park day trip. The speedboat they got us into, we literally risked our lives.

(The SCAM part)
1. They do marketing for slow and big boat. But on the day, just before 30mins before the trip they change it to speed boat. With that short notice you won't have time to react.
2. The speed boats are very small. And gets very dangerous in rough seas.
3. Our speedboat experience was horrific. On multiple occasions we thought the boat would turn over in deep sea and we all would die.

(The POLICE part)
4. The boat didn't have a radio. Unbelievable. There was a gps tracker, but if your boat stops or there happens any accident there is no communication means. Mobile network won't work in the deep sea.
5. One of the tourists got a bad spinal injury due to the boat. The sea was so rough, and especially in a speedboat, he literally jumped from seat and thrown onto the deck. Had it been the other side, he would have drowned and DIED. He could have got concussion also.
6. Almost all passengers vomited, such was the situation.

The point is safety is non-negotiable. If the sea is rough you should not even run the boat, forget about a small speed boat. They do it recklessly for money. Even in the boat there was no radio, meaning the tourists are totally at the mercy of the unknown. This to my best belief is ILLEGAL. And do remember, speedboat accidents usually won't get covered under travel insurance, it gets considered under adventure sports. Bloody they don't even provide SAFETY JACKETS during the trip.
This was horrible, and the worst boat experience in my lifetime.

If you are reading this my suggestion would be to: AVOID ORION / PHANGAN BOAT TRIPS. For others too, ask as many questions as you want and don't take your safety for granted. This was perhaps my only bad experience in Thailand, where I got scammed and then had to put my life at risk. I complained to the local police but I'm not sure whether that would mean anything.

- told us we get a bug boat --> got a small speedboat where we were sitting cramped and they drove like crazy!
- said well be watching the sunrise and would be back at 6.30pm --> were back at 3.30
- guides didn't tell us what to do at the stops or when we would leave again. Even when we asked we didn't got information
- really unorganised--> they forgot a person at one island
- there was hair and insects in the lunch
