We were lucky, because we pushed the gate open just as the casting of a monumental Buddha image was about to get underway. Several weeks of work hung in the balance. It was an awe-inspiring, breathtaking process and it was explained to us very carefully...More

The Buddha Casting Factory is very interesting to see how much work goes into making the Buddha. The bird sanctuary attached is very run down and not well maintained.

No one else there so we were able to stroll around at our leisure. Watched a lady finishing a large wax Buddha to make a mould. Very detailed and fascinating to watch.

Essentially you just walk around while a small handful of people do their jobs. The castings were interesting, and it was cool to see people so casually making such delicate features of the statues. The gift shop was VERY expensive, though!

If you have any engineering knowledge this place is a must. Fascinating place where it's easy to see how they cast. No restrictions on walking round.

When I stopped by the factory, workshops would be a more accurate description, there was very little activity so it wasn't particularly interesting. But they do let you go wherever you want and take pictures, so I liked that. Its free, so the next time...More

This facility is located near two other attractions - the Sgt Thawee Folk Museum and a Bird park which is adjacent to the Buddha casting factory. This is a commercial enterprise and is probably where Sgt Thawee got most of his money to purchase his...More

This site is directly across the street from the not-to-be-missed Sgt Maj Thawee Folk Museum. As long as you're already at the museum, cross the street afterwards and see where and how the Buddha statues so ubiquitous in Thailand are made.

As you enter the factory you will see posters showing what the craftsmen and women are actually doing inside the factory. I think that is so you don't stop them working by asking questions, and also there are not many who speak any language other...More
