It's a very beautiful and imposing wat, and the central Buddha image at the end of the nave is presented with an almost theatrical flourish. Maybe that's the problem, as it is with so many of these sites which have become highly commercialized pilgrimage destinations....More

This Temple is centrally located in the City. If you are using Taxies to get around ensure you use only metered ones as non metered will charge you more. Try not to use the onsite wash rooms, they are dirty & smell. You are required...More

Recommend to prepare 30-40 minutes in the evening for joining the prayer with monks and locals. Do like the local is better than do as the tourist, to make you absorb the atmosphere and can enjoy the historical temple.

Wat Yai houses Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, said to be Thailand's most beautiful Buddha image. It's a busy temple with many Thai families paying homage to the Buddha. The grounds show their Khmer influence and are finely restored.
