Overview
More
Located in Ninh Binh province 100 km southeast of Hanoi, Hoa Lu and Tam Coc are two of the most picturesque spots in all of the north. For 41 years, from 968 to 1009 CE, Hoa Lu was the ancient capital of Vietnam. Nearby Tam Coc is often referred to as “Ha Long among the rice paddies.” Visitors are conveyed by rowboat along the peaceful Tam Coc stream past green fields and the feet of mountains into the mouths of caves, where they encounter new surprises, like stalactites and stalagmites that shimmer like gemstones just inches from the water.

Excellent tour of the park I really enjoyed the tour. Lots of history and beautiful landscape. The primate monkey rehabilitation center was the highlight.

By faaaaar more beautiful and not so crowded then Ha Long Bay. Explore the whole area with a rented motorcycle. You do not need to make the very expensive boat trip.

We had a nice romantic day out here, wasn't too expensive and was really pretty. Bought the tower a drink too as it was quite hot

Very nice city/village. Friendly people and lots of things to do and great nature. I especially enjoyed driving around by bicycle. Tourism is upcoming which could be regcocnized by the construction sides.

I've read mixed reviews so here's the deal: The cost is 120k pp and 150k for the boat so 270k for 1 person, 390k for 2 in the same boat etc. It says no more than 2 foreigners per boat but I saw 4 in...More

Great river trip, except for all the ladies in boats trying to sell you things at the end. Gets a bit crowded at times due to day trippers coming from Hanoi but still superb. The mountains, the underground river, passing from one cave to one...More

We took to the water at about 4.45pm and had a wonderful trip through the caves and along the river. The sun was going down so at times we were in complete shade which was good as it wasn't too hot. As it was late...More

The answer from Candy C seems reasonable. I think Halong Bay is awesome and should be a definite stop on your trip. I would suggest a Tour guide in Hanoi to get in as much as possible. Classy Travel provided a guide by... More
