I've been to Israel 4 times and somehow never been to this crater???? Is that possible? WOW. Aboslutely stunning. You can walk around the rim or go hiking on various trails inside. I went in May on a a 4 hour hike (I'm very slow...I think it should have been 2 lol) and did not see ONE other person or... More

The Ramon Crater (called Machtesh Ramon in Hebrew) is the largest erosion crater in the world. While not as large as the Grand Canyon, it is much more accessible, either hiking, car or jeep ride into the depths of the crater. There are many interesting things to learn about geology and evolution (there's even a dinosaur fossil). One of the... More

This was an incredible view where we could see the huge craters that had been made. The color and formation of the rocks were beautiful. There was such a sense of serenity as we gazed upon the craters and beautiful rock formations.

Where do you start with the Ramon crater? It is a totally amazing site that will leave you breathless with its natural beauty. There are lots of vantage points where you can get mind blowing views but a great starting point is the viewpoint next to the Visitors Centre. There are lots of different trails all over the area covered... More

Despite the fact that it's neither meteorite nor volcanic crater, it's still give an unique view. Worth a trip.

The crater, really called a Makhtesh, is enormous and beautiful desert, allowing you to see layers of rock back millions of years. Our jeep tour, with Deep Desert Israel was fantastic, helping us to get access into the crater and to understand the environment. Our guide, Yoash, was very knowledgeable about the desert and really anything else we asked about.... More

Stark and mysterious, mountains and hills, the color of sand and the blanket of sun on this crater-like landscape that goes on for miles around as you approach...driving up/down the roads leading here is in itself an experience worth having, let alone your perch atop this crater. Not the Israel people imagine at all.

A great Israeli attraction, one of the best in my openion. The crater holds many activities. One of my favorite is sand drawing. Inside the crater you can find several colors of sand - putting it inside a glass bottle makes colorful sand layers.
