This is very different to other attractions in the area. It's a nice visit especially if you are interested in the history of the place. Near a cute tea house. A good place to visit if you have the time but not essential.

I was actually quite surprised to find how interesting this house is. Rebuilt after WWII, it fell into disrepair, and was renovated not many years ago. I cannot wait to read some of her 6 books (3 on Borneo, 1 on Libya, + 2 more).

As part of the heritage trail we climbed up the many steps from the town in the searing heat to visit the house. Unfortunately when we got there it was closed although the signs indicated that it should have been open! We took a few photos - there would have been no photos allowed inside if we had been able... This is the (rebuilt) home of the American writer Agnes Keith. It's a small museum of their life. This is not a famous writer in Sweden (or at least I've never heard of her before going to Malaysia) but even so I liked this house/museum.

Of course, it's not the original, but lovely all the same. I'd be very happy living here! It's cool and spacious, and right next to the fabulous English Tea Garden.

If you're into history and interested to know the stories of prominent people like Agnes Keith, then this place should be included into your itinerary when visiting Sandakan. RM15 per entry for international travellers and no camera is allowed inside the house.

This home has been beautifully restored and contains so much interesting information. Allow time to read all the stories inside.

Because of the lack of things to do In sandakan we visited, easy walk there from the town centre. Have to pay 10MR to get in which is a bit annoying. Few things to read and see in the house. Probably take up 30 minutes of your time.

We found our way to the home via a formal tour. Had no knowledge of Agnes and her work but now can happily comment that we are pleased about her attempts to recount life before, after and during WW2 in Borneo. The home is surrounded by delightful gardens and the adjacent English Tea House where we had 2 excellent meals.... More

To wander around this lady's house was a real pleasure. Reading about the history and seeing the lovely gardens, it was a good trip.
