I walked there and sat right outside the mosque to admire it, and remained there for more than an hour. There are not too many things to do in the legendary city, so, I enjoyed those places as much as I could.

Beautiful tribute to an ancient era when Timbuktu was the City of Gold. It is fascinating from the outside, but if you can get inside it is spectacularly beautiful, especially late afternoon when the sun is low and gives the tall arched passagways a golden hue.

Probably the most impressive sight in Timbuktu (apart from the cat skins over the power lines). You can get a different (I wouldn't say better) view by going into the rooftop of one of the neighbouring buildings.

Ive been there in during the Festival au Desert last year, I could not step inside cause its forbidden for those are not from Islamic religion but the outside view is already stunning. Unfortunately now its difficult to get there and there are many problem in the country but one day if the situation is going to get better I... More
