Kill your time.

Boring, nothing interesting. The water is dirty and green. There are not many birds like mans told. We just did some photo mountains, that’s all.
This trip isn’t cost this money.

Relaxing boat cruise on Lake Skadar
Aug 2021 • Family
We drove to Lake Skadar from Kotor and took the *very* scenic route (M2.3 to Rijeka Crnojevića and then Panoramic Road 3 to Virpazar).

Every car entering the village is greeted by bold (but polite) hustlers who want you to rent their boat or kayak to visit the lake. They take no for an answer easily with a smile. We parked (for free) and wandered around the village until we found a boat cruise* that suited us.

We chose a 2 hour tour: 10 euros per adult, toddler free (kid-sized life jacket was available which was a deciding factor in choosing this particular boat company). You have to pay the National Park 4 euros per adult too.

We cruised slowly along the waterway that takes you to the lake. The water is muddy but the lily pads are very attractive.

It was hot, I’m glad we had a breeze on the water.

The boat captain stopped on a small pebble beach for 15 minutes to let us have a short swim.

It is impressive to see the mountains rise above the mist. Nice views. I’m spoilt coming from Geneva and the Lac Léman but it’s a generally pleasing view.

What’s a real shame is the pollution - water bottles and plastic bags floating here and there (not many but we saw a dozen over the course of 2 my hours).

Funnily enough when I looked at the receipts just now, I saw that you’re not supposed to pick water lilies, which makes sense… our boat captain picked them for each lady on board 😅🤦🏻‍♀️.

*Their name is “Boat Cruising” and I wasn’t able to find them listed in dispensent here on TripAdvisor so I am writing this as a general review for the lake.

Great views

Very much worth the drive. Scenery was gorgeous. Stopped by the visitor center to find hiking trails. They recommended one but warned about the snakes. The trail was, unfortunately, very hard to find. Overall, really liked the views.

We took a guided boat trip and were really surprised how interesting this place was. It is a real park where you can see different types of fish and birds. The whole journey was a real pleasure and almost three hours flew by unnoticed.

In 2019 I took a guided boat ride on Lake Skadar. it took about 2 hours and we saw bird Sanctuaries and many other things on our boat ride. It was wonderful . I have to choose 2020 as that is the last date on the pulldown menu.

A beautiful lake with spectacular surroundings
Oct 2020
In Montenegro for cycle touring, we have spent a substantial portion of the past week cycling around lake Skadar. We have approached the lake from water level and viewed it from the secondary roads that and circle the lake from high on the surrounding mountain ridges. The lake in the surrounding area is beautiful with so many different levels with so many interesting features as you circumnavigate the lake. If you were coming to Montenegro, you will want to plan at least two days in the charming villages and spectacular scenery that surrounds Lake Skadar.

Ok to spend time
Sep 2020 • Couples
It was end of September and rainy. Because of covid situation in a boat was only 4 men. Disappointing that in national park on the river so much garbage. A lot of birds. View is ok, beautiful.
But we spent 150 euros for whole trip : 70 for two of us for 2 hours boat trip, 50 to rent a car to get this place and about 40 to eat in local restaurant. And for this money i would say its small pleasure, will fit for you if there is nothing else to do in Montenegro, like in our situation cause - was rainy, and we decided to go there.

Okay
Aug 2020
The park as such is worth to visit, but the best views to the lake and birds you can only get if you take a boat trip. This year the prices are very okay for tourists. We took 1h ride and for Children that was good enough. Lake is huge. What we did not like was the pressure on land from all agencies to take a tour. We felt like in Tunis again. There is also 1 guy at the entry who helps with parking, but then makes too much pressure to get a trip from him. When we took in another place he became rude.
