This needs climbing up nearly 100 steps but it is worth reaching the top to view the city. The architecture is incredible. A temple worth a visit.

Besides the dificulty to buy the tickets, the temple it's very impressive. It's incredible what the men did 2000 years ago. It's a long steps way, but not difficult to climb.

You need to climb up around a hundred steps but after reaching the top the view of the city is breathtaking. There are temples built by different kings at the top with some really amazing sculptures.

The cave temples are quite stunning but compared to most other temples we visited in the Cultural Triangle, Dambulla is overrun with tourists. The street vendors line up all the way from the bottom to the top of the rock persistently trying to sell you...More

It is amazing to think that there were all carved out of the rock, the paint and detail was amazing, our tour guide was very knowledgable about their history.

I think you can pay in US$ as well. Some attractions are quite expensive, for example Sigiriya Lion Rock is $35. You can also climb Pidurangala Rock for 200 LKR each and get a beautiful view that is the same as the view from... More

Is there a café onsite? and are you expected to cover up your shoulders and knees?

Well, this is a place of religious worship of great significance and hence visitors are expected to dress appropriately. There are no cafes on-site due to the same reason.
