A magnificent sight, well worth a visit. The caves and temple are very well preserved and maintained. Certainly worth a couple of hours of the trip.

Really good trip to Dambulla 👍 Beautiful views, good feeling and really beautiful temples. If you on the way to Sigiriya is absolutely must to visit.

This place is worth a visit. but beware with the monkeys.don't you dare bring some lotus flowers or any food on your way to the temple, just to be safe.

Tourists are just that, they come they see they rush off. Places like this, IMHO are best kept for the reverent believers who come with faith, respect and offerings. Visitors are not permitted to wear footwear and some may find this extremely difficult on one's...More

Probably because I've seen quite amazing temples in other Buddhist countries like Myanmar or Thailand, but these were at best average. The art is bland and there are quite a few statues, and that's about it.

Well worth the climb to view some amazing Statues of Buddha. Best seen with the help of a knowledgeable guard, the history of the site is worth investing in a good Guide.

I think you can pay in US$ as well. Some attractions are quite expensive, for example Sigiriya Lion Rock is $35. You can also climb Pidurangala Rock for 200 LKR each and get a beautiful view that is the same as the view from... More

Damian, We were on a guided tour. So entrance to the golden temple was covered as part of the package. What I can tell you is there is a huge difference between the tourist rate and the Sri Lankan rate. I would go so far... More

Well, this is a place of religious worship of great significance and hence visitors are expected to dress appropriately. There are no cafes on-site due to the same reason.
