Worth driving past but like many other cities in Asia the waterways can be very dirty. Have a wander past on the way to the temple of the tooth relic.

A really pleasant walk around the lake. Quite clean path but with traffic on one stretch . Nice in the early morning but not so in the dark.

Nice place, the recommend view point is right next to the main road so not peaceful at all. Walk up past the temple there are a few benches to sit and watch. Although avoid the sales people selling the 'dancing' seems like a scam

Loved walking around and watching the water monitors bask in the sun and the fish swimming in the river. Be sure not to stand under trees for too long as being pooed on by a bird seems a common experience.
