This is worth the visit, for the statue and the views, but the place is showing its age and not the best for walking around in bear feet. Ticket price is 250 rupees PP £1.25/$1.60. It is slightly off the beaten track, so not 100's...More

We visited as part of a day tour of Kandy. The statue itself is quite impressive, but the temple is pretty dirty and not very pleasant to walk around without any footwear. There was no real explanation of anything within the temple, which was a...More

Impressive Buddha on top of a hill surrounding Kandy. Great views from the top and a quaint little book shop in the temple grounds to stroll through.

Beautiful structure, beautiful view but there are no text translating the paintings etc so you end up wandering rather than taking in any understanding.

This giant statue is pretty close to the center of town. It is rather boring for a westerner who doesn't know much about Buddhism because most signs are not in English. Also, it is a little dirty.

Not to much to brag about really. And a bit weird with the steps and platform on the back of the Buddha. At the same time a beautful place at sunset because of the view.

No it isn't. They charge you 200 rupees to get in, as well as more money to look after your shoes! whilst I was there they followed me around asking me for more money in the form of donations.
