Our drive on the way to the mountain was rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountain ranges. The view here beat Alishan by a mile, and it is free, with very few tourists. However, the road is quite narrow at some places, and you will...More

Was on a photography trip with some friends back in April. It took 3.5 hours to drive to the top from Hualien, but it was totally worth the journey. The sky was very dark, and we were lucky to have about 2 hours of clear...More

We did not get to see the majestic views as it was raining with misty view. It's cold up in the mountains, so do prepare a warm jacket when visiting. We passed several cyclists and hikers along the way, even during the late evening time.

We have to wake up at 3am to take the local mini bus to ascend to the mountain. That day, the sky is clear and not misty and we manage to watch the sunrise. Indeed it was very beautiful and the surrounding natural scenery is...More

If you go from Hualien to Cingjing, you can stop to do the trails along Hehuanshan. The weather though unpredictable, is generally better in the morning. We spent one afternoon walking in thick clouds and hardly saw a view, but the morning sunrise gave us...More

We heard so much about this mountain and made the trip by private taxi from the Taichung HSR Station. Glad I was not driving the tricky and narrow winding road. This explains why normal coach/buses cannot navigate up to the pass. The stops at Cingjing...More

We are keen walkers and love the mountains but we were unable to appreciate Hehuan because of two days of thick cloud (27 and 28 April 2017). Indeed we had constant torrential rain for over 24 hours. On both days we were out for 5.00am...More

Just around 30-minutes ride by coach from Cingjing Farm and you can completely walk into the wonder of Taiwan's wild nature.

Maybe you just like me, enjoy hiking and the nature. Sunrise always equals to hope! In early April, I went to Cingjing and enjoyed a stunning sunrise view at Hehuan Mountain. You can book the local tour through your hotel. They will pick you up...More

I would like to travel from Cingjing Farm to Hualien and visit Taroko Gorge with my 2 year old toddler. Would it be too demanding for her to travel across the mountain range with an altitude of 3027m at Hehuanshan? Or should I go back to Taipei before making my way down the east coast? She has gone to 2061m when she was 8 months old.

Altitude wise I think it is ok. However, we did not go to Taroko Gorge via Hehuanshan, so I cannot comment about the road conditions beyond Hehuanshan. We took the conventional east coast way from Taipei to Hualien by train... More
Hello everyone. I'm planning to drive a rental car from Cingjing to Hehuanshan this December, then Taroko. I have some doubts here please. 1. Has anyone driven to Hehuanshan when route covered with snow? 2. Did you put snow chains on your wheels? 3. As everyone knows, the road to this place is narrow, even narrower on the way to Taroko. Do they have an area for us to park and put the chains on the wheels or we need to do it on the edge of the road please? Thank you very much.

The roads are relatively narrow and can be unsafe for self drive, unless you are very familar with the roads. Went last Nov, the weather wasnt very cold (around 11-15°C) and wasnt snowing yet. Not sure in December. There are... More
