Very beautiful treasures, including amazing textiles and jewellery! However it's a very traditional museum with no inter-active technology. Also there is a significant price difference between locals and foreigners which is ridiculous. Disappointingly a lot of the museum is being renovated. Also be aware of the tutu drivers outside wanting to take you to 'malls' that are really their families... More

Museum looks old and uncared for. Floors and windows were dirty and the space felt kinda empty. They had some nice exhibits but nothing special, turned around and left the tour 15 min in and went back to the hotel while the rest of the group continued. The audio tour is a little expensive and the credit card machine didnt... More

Spending a few hours in the National Museum will encapsulate the cultures, religions and eras of history that represent India. The three floors are organized by theme, era and style. While it isn't the British Museum, it is interesting and valuable.

We spend about 1.5 hour in the museum. It has great Buddha collection and royal family items. The routing is great, one way systems see all, i like the set up. You can't take bag into the museum and it's free to put into a cloak room. A place definitely worth to go if you are interested to get more... More

Although foreigners have to pay a lot more, an audioguide is included in the price. You are required to put your bags in the cloakroom, which closes at 5. the museum stays open later. The exhibits were good, but we ran out of time to see them all.

Good things first. The museum has some really great historical items, from the beautiful well preserved skeleton of a woman wearing bangles to Tipu Sultan's sword to the Dancing Girl from the Mohenjodaro period to the jaw dropping jewellery collection. It's spread put on 3 floors, with a canteen in the basement and difficult to see in a few hours.... More

Much of India's history as we know it concentrates on the past 400 odd years. It is very interesting to learn of earlier civilizations, their customs, crafts and traditions. The coin collection is particularly impressive.
