Indian Arc de Triompfe

Impressive archway but most interesting is the 1000s of locals nearby on a sunday hanging in the park area. Families and couples and kids.

This is a memorial for India's sacrifice during WW1. It's best to go at night. It's beautifully lit, and you can enjoy the local street snacks. So good!

Surprisingly in such a heavily populated city, there was this wide open space with wide boulevards (etc), and the towering India Gate.

The place is very crowded in the afternoon. It is filled with both locals and foreigners. The monument is deeply moving.

Its a nice clean memorial for the armed forces, where one can pay respects to brave soldiers who were martyred during various campaigns.

It's a pride for all of us to be standing in front of this giant door. A piece of ancient art and patience to create something great. Just driving around it gives a true feeling of being an Indian. The Amar Jawan Jyoti the Gun and the Soldier Hat gives that kick. The patriotism of our soldiers is so admiring.... More

I visited India Gate during a 'whirlwind' tour of New Delhi. While I have much respect for this site, a memorial to 82,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the First World War, I only had time to stop for a quick photo op. It is located on a very busy boulevard near the government buildings area and... More

Edwin Lutyens designed most of this part of Delhi. The India monument is very impressive recording the names of 80000 Indian soldiers who gave up their lives in the Great War. Not to be missed
