About
Hauz Khas village was known in the medieval period for the amazing buildings built around a reservoir and drew a large congregation of Islamic scholars and students to the Madrasa for Islamic education. Today, some of India's most prestigious institutes are situated in the neighborhood, including the Indian Institute of Technology, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. The village itself retains its old-world charm, enhanced by well-manicured green parks planted with ornamental trees all around with walk ways, and surrounded by gentrified market and residential complexes which have sprung up around the old village. The reservoir itself has been reduced in size and well landscaped with water fountains. The village structure that existed in the medieval period was modernized in mid-1980s, projecting a quiet, upscale identity that attracts tourists from all parts of the world.

Neighbourhood: Hauz Khas Village
Known as ‘The National Capital of Ethnic Chic’, the hip and trendy Hauz Khas Village is a beautiful urban village nestled in a corner among the ruins of domed tombs of Muslim royalty from the 14th to 16th centuries, that merge into the modern day Deer Park. Old homes here have been converted into fashion boutiques & chic homestays, art galleries, jewellery shops, book and antique stores, multi-cuisine restaurants, bars and nightclubs. HKV might be full of arterial narrow lanes but it is the epicenter of Delhi’s most vibrant social life. In the spring and winter evenings, visitors can stroll along the lake, watch the beautiful sunset from the ruins of the fort or sip a cocktail at one of the many rooftop bars and restaurants overlooking it.

A beautifully decorated "family" hotel and delicious food. Servants polite and the host very sympathetic and accommodating.

A place to enjoy the refreshing calm and quiet without the bustle of traffic. Take time to walk and enjoy the water, buildings and locals at leisure.

Had I not been with a local, I would never have known. Such a lovely place. From the main complex, historical and then you have like a trendy area outside with hip shops and restaurants. Loved the vibe. Highly recommend.

Exceeded expectations. Hauz Khas has a fun, relaxed vibe. It would be very easy to pass half a day here. There are many restaurants and cafes overlooking a lake in Hauz Khas itself. Additionally, there's street art, unique stores/boutiques, and street food to try. There's hisotry to explore, too, in a lovely green space and park. Parking is available.

Great little village for drinks, music and a bit of night life. We were able to wander around hassle free and without the usual bustle of Delhi life. It could be mistaken for a little gem in the middle of London soho. However, places to eat are limited. Although the rooftop bars are a must to check out. Easy to get to in a tempu.

Hauz khas village turned out to be a bit of disappointment for us. We took the auto from the Hauz Khas Delhi metro station to the village. It is a not a very big place and has lot of restaurants in it and lots of small scale shops.

we had lunch at a fancy restaurant called mia bella.

While overlooking the hauz khas water tank, standing amongst remains of a 700-800 year old Fort surrounded by nature, blaring music from the surrounding restaurants left one hoping for silence.
