Urban Leopards of Rajasthan
Sep 2021 • Family
We were wondering that how can we miss such a place over the years where leopards roam and grow so freely. This was our first time to Jhalana Leopard Reserve and we were absolutely amazed to see the leopards in such a habitat.

This place was suggested to us by Sourabh Garg from TravelGleam Wild (9958993316 , 9899954575) and we are highly grateful to him and his team for the same. We did three safaris and sighted three leopards and the highlight of the trip was the queen of Jhalana, Flora.

We have added this to our itinerary whenever we plan to visit wildlife of Rajasthan in future, it's a must visit for everyone.

Thanks Sourabh and team for pushing us to visit such a place which is heaven for Leopards.

Enjoyable & Surprisingly Easy to Manage
Sep 2021
I did not expect to see any Leopards due to the ongoing monsoons as the jungles are lush with foliage & grass is also about 2' high. However we saw a leopard on each safari. What a joy to see such a majestic animal. Had booked 3 safaris. Two in the evening and one in the morning. During the morning safari one leopard was amazingly close and gave us a leisurely view as he came to drink water.

The Jhalana Conservation Reserve is in Jaipur. Timings for the safari are not available either on the Rajasthan Forest Department website nor on any reliable source on google search engine. And even the timings pasted outside the ticketing office of Jhalana Conservation Reserve are not being followed. For example the September timings for the morning safari shows 6.45am to 9.15am, however the jeeps go in at 6.15am! Evening safari timing shows is 3.45pm to 6.15pm but the jeeps go in at 4pm. The chaiwala outside the ticket counter is more informed!! At the venue there's an air conditioned waiting room, a souvenir shop and a museum.

I bought tickets online directly through Rajasthan FMDSS website. Paid Rs.391/- per person per seat. Online I had booked 3 safaris for 2 pax. At the ticket counter, I requested for full gypsy. For 2 safaris there was an one other person with us. I paid an additional Rs.1207/- per trip. On the last safari we had 3 other people in the gypsy. I was asked to pay Rs.200/- for ticket price difference.

Getting to Jhalana Conservation Reserve and back to hotel (Red Fox), we tied up with an auto rickshaw driver who we paid Rs.300/- per return trip.

All gypsy safari drivers are enthusiastic & sharp eyed. They phone each other if there's a sighting. We had Sobit twice and Ganesh for last safari. Both good drivers.

A little gem
Sep 2021
Jhalana Leopard Sanctuary. This was my first visit to this relatively new park, only about 3-4 years since safaris started. On first impressions I was pleasantly surprised by this little green oasis in the middle of Jaipur city only about 10mins drive from the airport. Probably one of the few places in India were leopards are fairly relaxed around cars and provided some great photo opps. Considering the time of visit being the middle of the rainy season and the park was lush green with the grass over a few feet high. I had 2 sightings in each of the 3 drives I went on.
I am excited to see how this park is developed in the future to support and manage tourism. The park management seem to be doing a great job already having achieved a great deal in a rather short time, and signs of development and planning are evident across the park. Loads of habitat restoration work is ongoing, which is great to see. From a tourism point of view, the small size of the park with a great network of well maintained roads and low density of vehicles (10 at present) is perfect and almost assures regular leopard sightings. The guides and drivers seem to be not only knowledgeable but also very respectful of the park and rules.
I am looking forward to visiting this park again in the winter when it is drier and the visibility should be excellent.
This place has great potential if under the right management.

Safari at Jhalana Leopard Reserve
Mar 2021
Jhalana Leopard Reserve Safari trip is nice & refreshing. Most of the days travelers are lucky to have glimpses of Leopard. We too on 11th March were lucky to see one for longer duration near mining area. Besides we saw Neel Guy, peacocks, black Mongoose at water holes & of course Langoor near temple

I was with my family and was lucky enough to see 3 panthers - Simba, Flora and Keseri.

We had the best guide and driver who understood the call in jungle.

2 leopards.

The landscape is mesmerising, you get a feel of the hills and plains in one frame. We saw a shikra, a beautiful neelkanth and 2 leopards. The animal is quite shy as compared to a tiger. It was perched on a small hillock and we observed it for a good one hour. It was the first time we had seen a leopard and our son was really happy to see 2 of them, it’s a beautiful animal.

Fantabulous & Amazing Leopard Park - Hidden Gem of Pink City
Dec 2020
I visited Jhalana Leopard Reserve for the first time and was surprised by the location and leopard sighting. Park is in heart of Pink City – Jaipur and got a good density of Leopards. As we all know the leopard is one of the elusive of all big cats and it's extremely difficult to spot one. We did 2 safaris and saw 2-3 individual Leopards in each of them. It is always hard to sight big cats in winters but surprisingly this park has a good sighting percentage. It is in the urban area and very well within Jaipur boundaries. I visited so many national parks but this one was quite small yet had good sightings. Surely a must-visit.

We organized the safari through Mr. Kuldeep Singh (+91 83878 17123). He managed the bookings very well. We had no issues in locating the park and the guide/driver was waiting for us when we reach. Safari Jeep was electric and low noise. The only issue I had was from the pricing perspective. I was charged Rs 3500 per safari and got to know from another group they were charged Rs 3000 for the same slot. On researching, I found the actual cost of Safari per Jeep is Rs 2500.

Our guide/driver for both safaris was Mr. V.P. Singh. He was experienced and surely eagle-eyed. He spotted well-hidden Leopards and guessed their move accurately. Thanks, VP sir, you were amazing.

Overall it was an amazing experience and a must-visit for all Jaipur visitors. I completely recommend this park and it's better than Jawai.
