A huge collection of books. You can find some old.. rare books here. Not jus the library, the nearby museum and the surrounding lawns are a good spot for some peaceful time and get soaked in the history. Very very cheap and very good place in the midst of the city.

At first, you enter the "new" building. It is shocking to see all the books rotting in the shelves, the claustrophobic rooms ... the years of neglect. But when you manage to find the way across to the old library (reading room first floor right back corner), it becomes a different story altogether.

It is one of the famous and old libraries in Asia. Here you can find lot of old books and there are many sections as well. People who love reading must visit this place atleast once.

The public library is interesting but if you go out of the main library using the overhead tunnel bridge you will come to a part that is not open to the public but is a real hidden gem, beautiful stained glass windows, fantastic old teak library shelves stuffed with books including one of the first bikes in Chennai. Up stairs... More

One of the National Depository Libraries in India which would receive a copy of all the books, newspaper & periodicals published in India. It has a mammoth collection but readers misplace the books which makes is extremely difficult to locate the book we're looking for.

I frequently visit Connemara Library. No membership is needed for reading books here. In case you want to borrow books from here, you need to become a member. There are totally four floors. All kinds of books are there. It is very useful for mu academic purpose. The library is air conditioned and comfortable.

Connemara public library is one of my favourite place in the city. The library stacks a wide range of books, magazines, journals, e-books and more. I had spent a lot of time here during my M.Phil dissertation and it has helped me immensely to widen my knowledge and deepen my understanding in a variety of fields.
