Kapeeleshwar is a very holy place, a must visit. It's a beautifully carved temple, maintained very well, really clean and gives a feeling of sanctity and bhakti. Plus good photo ops with devout people looking so calming in the wonderful arched corridors and back drops of medieval doors. Try to get someone who knows the place guide you around.

Arguably the most famous temple in Chennai, located at Mylapore. This is the very soul of Chennai. It has got a facelift very recently and all colours are fresh and vibrant. A must visit place in Chennai

We went with Storytrails on their walking tour of Peacock trail. The guide met us on time outside the silk store and we walked the block to the temple. She knew a great deal about the gods (mainly Shiva) and the temple's history. Afterwards, we visited the priest's home, a revered Catholic Church, and a restaurant.

A must visit place in Chennai old typical dravidian style temple. We did Darshan within 10 minutes during Pongal rush. If you wish to do darshan of Shiva and Parvati closely take Rs. 50/- token for each. But don't think it is much required unless huge rush. Buy prasadam from corner of campus sweet and sour both, extremely tasty. No... More

Located in the heart of city. Crowds not overwhelming unless on festive days. Large campus. Peacefully set aesthetics. Artistic gopuram entrance. Sanctum santorum emits powerful spiritual vibrations. Overall worth a (tourist) visit if you stay for at least 3 days in Chennai
