This is probably one of the smallest zoos in the country in terms of area, but the diversity of animals is quite good. The bear, leopard and red panda are a popular attraction.

Was never a fan of place with caged animals (zoo), but this place has some rare species. It tries to maintain the habitat as naturally as possible. The place is very near to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.

Although as I stay in Kolkata and compared to 'Alipore Zoological Garden', Darjeeling's Zoo is like a little sister, Small and Cute. Needs more Care in up keeping of the facility.

SMall cramped enclosures and noisy tourists don't make for a happy experience. The red panda was a great novelty and he was in a performing mood that day.
