Situated at the Toy Train stop between Darjeeling and Ghoom (Ghum) this monument has a commanding view over the mountains and valleys of the Ghukas homeland which is peacefully aiming to become an autonomous state.

It is in the middle of the Batasia Loop. If you are in Darjeeling we will surely visit Batasia loop and you will not be able to miss the memorial. Overall nice place with a great view. The memorial itself is not that great if you compare with India gate or any other memorial in the country.

The memorial represents greatness imbibed in the souls of the soldiers of the legendary Indian regiment.... but the spot is just an average affair with nothing more to offer, the view of Kanchenjunga is available from almost every where in darjeeling.

A historical place with a brilliant view. It barely takes 15 minutes to check this out. Plus its practically next to the batasia loop. If the weather is right, you can easily spend an hour here.

This place is full of history and it has a commemorating statue for the martyrs of WW!. It is world heritage site. There are vendors who would let you look at the mountains through a long range binoculars for Rs. 30. There is a nicely kept and well maintained garden as well. Good place to be with the family.
